Washington, D.C. – Today, the Ohio House of Representatives passed Senate Joint Resolution 2, which would raise the required threshold percentage to enact a constitutional amendment via a ballot measure from 50 to 60 percent of the vote and would make it more difficult for Ohioans to amend their state’s constitution. The measure will now go on the ballot in a special August election this year. All On The Line has endorsed the Vote No in August campaign.

Liz Wester, All On The Line’s Director of Advocacy and Campaign Manager, released the following statement:

“From gerrymandering to restricting ballot measures, Ohio Republicans are doing all they can to circumvent the will of the people in order to hold onto artificial power. Make no mistake, this is an attack on the right to vote and Ohioans deserve better. We will do all we can to ensure Ohio voters turn out to vote ‘no’ in August and defeat this anti-democratic measure at the ballot box.”
