AOTL Asks WI Supreme Court To Reject Redistricting
Requests From Right-Wing Group
Partisan Wisconsin Institute for Law & Liberty Proposal
Would Silence Voices in Redistricting

MADISON, WIS. (November 30, 2020) — Today All On The Line (AOTL) Wisconsin State Director, Elizabeth Treviño, submitted a letter to the Wisconsin Supreme Court asking the Court to reject changes to the redistricting process sought by the right-wing Wisconsin Institute for Law and Liberty (WILL).

“The people of Wisconsin deserve a transparent redistricting process with ample opportunity for public input. Any action that makes the process more difficult for Wisconsinites to fully participate in should be denied by the state supreme court,” said Elizabeth Treviño.

As the letter states, “the Petition will enshrine an opaque judicial procedure, unnecessarily restrict community involvement in the map-drawing process, and establish an insufficient fact-finding regime. We urge the Court to reject the rule as proposed.”

The conservative firm WILL has a track record of attempting to shape the state’s redistricting process to favor Republicans. Last year, the group expressed an interest in the state legislature passing a mapping plan without Governor Tony Evers, a maneuver that the Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled is unconstitutional.

All On The Line

All On The Line is on a mission to end gerrymandering because it contributes to the polarization and dysfunction in our political system. Since launching in 2019, we’ve built a grassroots volunteer organization ahead of the 2021 redistricting process. This work includes launching Redistricting U, a national, in-person training program designed to give individuals the knowledge, skills, and tools to take action on redistricting, a program that is now offered virtually. All On The Line is the grassroots campaign of the National Redistricting Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) affiliate of the National Democratic Redistricting Committee.
