AOTL Colorado Statement on Removal of Danny Moore as Chair of Congressional Redistricting Commission

Today, Colorado’s Independent Congressional Redistricting Commission voted to remove Danny Moore as Chair. This decision follows numerous disclosures about Moore’s conduct on social media that called into question his ability to be a fair, honest, and independent leader that represented the voices of all Coloradans.

“When the people of Colorado voted overwhelmingly to create an independent redistricting process, they sent a clear message that redistricting  should no longer be driven by political interests or partisan ideologues. By listening to the outcry of Coloradans who were concerned about Moore’s fitness to serve as chair, the commission has taken an important step toward ensuring a fair, inclusive process that includes robust public input,” said Marco Dorado, AOTL Colorado State Director

“The commission should now select an individual to serve as chair who will be fair, independent, and put the interests of the people -- not a political party -- to lead this process forward. The lines that are drawn by the independent commission will help determine the next decade of politics and progress in Colorado - and we will work tirelessly  to ensure that this process leads to a map that truly reflects the many communities of interest across our state,” Dorado continued.
